A network of around 70 bus routes serves the city. Although taking the bus is an economical option, visitors may have issues using the system. Public buses also tend to get crowded during peak times
Public buses run throughout the city from around 6:30 AM–7 PM. The fare varies by destination, but should cost around VND 5,000–VND 7,000. You can buy tickets directly from the driver with cash only. Note that buses will only pause at a stop for a few seconds, so be prepared to get off quickly to your destination.
A few routes are particularly useful for visitors:
– No. 33 and No. 2 travel through the area around Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
– No. 9 stops at Hoàn Kiếm Lake and travels near many of the city’s major tourist attractions
